Welcome to the ebookers Blog.

This month finds us platypus watching in Australia and exploring caves in Oman. We travel with toddlers in tow and do some deep see fishing while in the area. We pampered ourselves on a cruise.. and then finish up on a small island in the Indian Ocean.

Australia – Travelling with a four year old- It is possible!
  Christian J/   28/04/07

A three week trip to Sydney over the Easter period seemed like the natural choice for two parents with a small child, “Challenges can be over come with a small amount of planning”, these words would be at the forefront of my mind for the remaining two weeks, six days and twenty-three hours.

Although travel had changed over the years (for the better I was assured) and travelling half way around the planet was no more daunting than a trip to a supermarket, somehow the addition of a four year old managed to change everything. I had been systematically informed that all we needed to worry about was the 24 hour flight - after this it was plain sailing. This flippant but all-too-used statement had been blown away when we realised no one told us that the 24 hours they were talking a

Not so good:

I flew from Dublin to Oslo with SAS direct. It took us just over three hours to fly into Oslo. SAS fly daily so you can go for a long weekend or as many days as you like. This is the nearest airport to Lillehammer. From Oslo to Lillehammer there are excellent train connections departing close to every hour.  I found this to be very convenient as the train is located uunderneath the airport. You can purchase your tickets online at www.nsb.no before you leave and they cost roughly €75 return. The train itself is very clean and each passenger receives a fleece

Jamaica – Land of wood & water.
  Sarina S/   04/05/07

I travelled to Jamaica with my husband and two small daughters (aged four and one).

Our first big holiday away since the girls were born, I was very apprehensive about how well they would be catered for but once in Jamaica there was ‘no problem’.

Arriving at Montego Bay Airport we found that Jamaican time started here – Immigration took over one hour to get through.

Porters will be on hand waiting to take your luggage to your transfer bus just to get a tip, and the recommended $1 per suitcase does not swing here, they expect a lot more as this is their livelihood so we ended up having to give $20.  Our transfer from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios took one hour and thirty minutes so added onto our ten hour flight I thought we would never start to enjoy ourselves.
